Figuring April 19th's details is a high priority for our team right now. We're working to research what information is publicly available and will try to contact 50501 directly.
We'll update the text of this post and send you a new reply comment once we figure out more details.
From what we've found, it does not appear there is a planned DC protest as of yet. As it stands, 50501 announced April 19th is a "Day of Action," in which local organizers could organize protests, but 50501 isn't themselves planning anything other than encouraging people to help their communities (aka, April 19th won't be what we saw on April 5th). The clearest answer we found was in this 50501 Facebook group (Screenshot of their post https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AoKxpYKE1Volms8GhnU-c5-sE8IOcUI9/view?usp=sharing )
There is a 50501 DC Chapter Facebook group (Link https://www.facebook.com/groups/930431509241074 ), though there's no clarity on if it's an official group or not (their moderators have not been very responsive). Thus far, that group's leadership has not taken any steps to organize a protest. Some individual commenters in the Facebook group are discussing a march from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol on that date, however, we haven't seen any confirmation that this is a concrete plan.
Wish we had more details to offer, but it looks like that's all we got for now. We post a new Organize DC edition every Friday, so next edition we'll try to provide more clarity if we can.
Hi Christine! Folks are welcome to plan any sort of planning group/protest they'd like– Organize DC will be happy to advertise any peaceful anti-Trump plans!
Sadly, Organize DC's capacity for now is just purely to communicate protest details and doesn't have the bandwidth to plan protests. As our team grows in the coming months, we hope to expand into helping coordinate/collaborate more with local protest organizers :)
Need 4/19 plan please. From West Chester ,PA willing to drive to location in need of support. This is best listing. Need easy read lists of events by state that is standardized info and gains active event attendees.
Many people are wondering what's happening with the general DC protest on April 19th. 50501 doesn't seem to have any answers. What's the plan?
